When you arrive in Los Angeles, you are instantly overwhelmed with the number of things to see and do! I believe you could spend a month here and yet not see everything.
Below are our ideas for the best activities to do with kids in Los Angeles, as well as the surrounding West Coast region. There are so many wonderful family-friendly activities in Southern California!
Hollywood Sign
Beverly Hills is special. One of the best things in LA. The Hollywood Sign is one of the most recognizable landmarks in the world! Hiking to the Hollywood sign is a terrific way to see it as well as get a panoramic perspective of Los Angeles.
Although you won’t be able to touch the sign, you will be able to walk right up behind it. Take aware that this is a lengthy journey – around 3 to 4 miles round way from the Lake Hollywood Park (where there is free public parking) – with a significant portion of it being uphill.
The Hollywood Sign is a cultural symbol and a landmark in Hollywood, California, United States. It is located atop Mount Lee in the Santa Monica Mountains’ Beachwood Canyon region.

Natural History Museum
The perfect place for interactive exhibits. The Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County is the western United States’ biggest natural and historical museum. It has almost 35 million specimens and artifacts in its collection, which spans 4.5 billion years of history.

Griffith Observatory
One of the top things in LA. There’s also the lovely Griffith Park to visit, and you won’t want to miss out on Travel Town! Griffith Park is a fantastic venue for kids’ activities, and Los Angeles has much to offer! You may go to the Los Angeles Zoo, enjoy Pony or Train Rides, and much much more!
Griffith Observatory is a Los Angeles, California observatory located in Griffith Park on the south-facing slope of Mount Hollywood. It has a panoramic view over the Los Angeles Basin, including Downtown Los Angeles, Hollywood, and the Pacific Ocean to the southeast.
Huntington Library
Yes, it is a library but it is beautiful! Plus they have a botanical garden. The Huntington Library, Art Museum, and Botanical Gardens, sometimes known as The Huntington, is a collections-based educational and research organization in San Marino, California, founded by Henry E.
Huntington and Arabella Huntington. The Huntington offers a free day on the first Thursday of each month, but there’s a catch! You must act quickly in order to get a ticket.
Tickets are limited and may be booked for either a morning (10 a.m. – noon) or an afternoon (1 p.m. – 4 p.m.) entrance. An expert tip is to check out the iconic skate park which is free admission and then check out the amazing view of LA.
Farmers Market at The Grove
The Original Farmers Market, located south of West Hollywood, is one of LA’s most well-known monuments. This cream-colored facility, which opened in 1934, attracts both locals and visitors with the promise of fresh vegetables and the perfume of ready-to-eat delicacies.
The museum is open seven days a week, with different hours depending on the day. The event is free to attend, but you’ll need cash if any of the delights pique your interest.
If your ticket is validated at the market, you may park for free for up to 90 minutes in one of the market’s two lots. (There are fees for parking beyond the authorized 90 minutes and for tickets that have not been validated.) You may also join a guided gourmet tour to help you navigate the market.
California Science Center
The California Science Center is a governmental agency and museum in Exposition Park, Los Angeles, next to the Los Angeles County Natural History Museum and the University of Southern California. Even for adults, the exhibitions are great and entertaining.
The Science Center’s permanent exhibition halls are free to visit (with the exception of IMAX and Special Exhibits), but you must make a timed-entry reservation. An honorable mention and a great place for most people in the Six Flags Magic Mountain.
Chinese Theatre
This one is the best from our list of places. Grauman’s Chinese Theatre is a movie palace located at 6925 Hollywood Boulevard in Hollywood, California, United States, on the historic Hollywood Walk of Fame. Following the popularity of the neighboring Grauman’s Egyptian Theatre, which opened in 1922, the first Chinese Theatre was built.
The movie theater, which first opened its doors on May 18, 1927, is perhaps one of Hollywood’s most well-known cinematic landmarks. 1. The TCL Chinese Theatre features the world’s largest IMAX auditorium. The new IMAX cinema opened on September 20, 2013, with a 3D presentation of The Wizard of Oz. Pacific Park
Santa Monica, California’s Pacific Park is a seaside amusement park. The park, which is situated on the Santa Monica Pier, has a direct view of the Pacific Ocean and Catalina Island. Pacific Park does not have an entry fee. Rides may be purchased separately for $5-$10, or an unlimited ride wristband can be purchased for $16.15-$29.25.
Wristbands are included with the Go Los Angeles Card. Santa Monica Amusements, LLC, a subsidiary of Premier Parks, LLC, manages Pacific Park. Premier Parks, LLC offers 12 locations in the United States and Canada, including on-site lodgings, an adventure park and marina, world-class music venues, a museum, and classic theme and water park services.
Dodger Stadium
Dodger Stadium is a baseball stadium in Los Angeles, California’s Elysian Park area. It is the home of the Los Angeles Dodgers of Major League Baseball. It was built in less than three years at a total cost of US$23 million and opened in 1962.
It is located near Major League Baseball’s Dodger Stadium on a wide peninsula of hills north of downtown Los Angeles. Julian Chavez, a 19th-century Los Angeles councilman who owned the property in the Elysian Park region, was the inspiration for Chavez Ravine.

El Capitan Theater
The El Capitan Theatre, located at 6838 Hollywood Blvd. in Hollywood, has been completely restored. The Walt Disney Company owns the theater and the nearby Hollywood Masonic Temple, which hosts the bulk of the Walt Disney Studios’ film premieres.
The El Capitan Theatre, nicknamed “Hollywood’s Was Home of Spoken Drama,” first debuted as a real theater in mid-1926. When the cinema switched to a movie-only policy in 1942 and underwent an Art Moderne renovation, it became the Paramount.
