Netflix is hopeful that a new deal with Samsung would help it fight off rivals as the streaming wars heat up. Samsung announced an agreement with Netflix this week at its Unpacked event, bringing exclusive supplementary material linked with various Netflix original series to its Galaxy handsets.

Netflix will be able to further integrate its streaming service with Samsung devices as a result of the relationship. The device integration component of the relationship is quite conventional. In the case of Netflix, customers will be able to access Netflix content using Samsung’s speech assistant Bixby.

Netflix will also provide suggestions to Samsung customers and will be more integrated with Samsung mobile services such as search and Samsung Daily, the company’s discovery platform. It’s not uncommon for Samsung to collaborate with tech businesses to improve app integration and distribution.

Samsung and Spotify, for example, established a formal agreement in 2018, resulting in consumer-facing features such as Spotify’s deep integration with the new Galaxy Buds+, Galaxy S20, and Galaxy Z Flip.

On the other hand, the new Netflix content collaboration is one-of-a-kind. Though Netflix did not go so far as to say that it will create original series or movies just for Samsung users, it did say that it would provide Samsung consumers with exclusive material.

Behind-the-scenes video, companion stories, and other supplementary content are also included, with much of it shot using the Samsung Galaxy S20’s new camera. “Narcos: Mexico,” “Sintonia,” “Elite,” and “Netflix is a Joke” will all have supplementary content accessible at first. More additional content will be accessible in the future, according to Netflix.

With an integrated campaign featuring offline ads, social and influencer content, and a TikTok filter that provides a new way for fans to enjoy the show through the lens of the iconic Galaxy Z Flip 5G, Samsung and Netflix will bring iconic style and innovative technology to fans of Emily in Paris to launch the second season.

Fans will be able to “flip the script” and become the protagonist in their own Emily in Paris animated poster using the filter. The eye-catching Galaxy Z Flip 5G will unfold in front of the user, placing them in front of the famed Eiffel Tower. As of December 28th, TikTok users* can try out the Flip the Script TikTok Effect on the site.
