Anne with An E
This series is an adaptation of the novel Anne of Green Gables and centers on Anne, a young orphan played by Amybeth McNulty who lives in the fictional town of Avonlea in the late 19th century.
It is a story that will warm your heart about her trip when she comes across an improbable house and family with a spinster and her quiet-spoken brother who is a bachelor.
Early in the year 2020 marked the conclusion of the television show, and all three seasons are now accessible to stream on Netflix. There are also other Netflix series specials and family drama series that fall in the category of a competition series with this one.
Sweet Magnolias
This series on Netflix is as satisfying as a cup of sweet tea. In the quiet southern hamlet of Serenity, longtime friends Maddie, Helen, and Dana Sue are there for each other as they navigate romantic relationships, breakups, and professional endeavors.

One Day at a Time
This series is a reworking of the popular television show from the 1980s, with Justina Machado playing a recently divorced Latina mother who is parenting her adolescent daughter and preteen son with the assistance of her more conventional mother (Rita Moreno).
Storylines include post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) experienced by veterans, racism, immigration and the ordinary highs and lows of living with family. A discourse about One Day at a Time might be a good place to start with older children. The original series show features a small town where everything happens for the first time.
The Wonder Years
Kevin Arnold, who is now an adult and looks back on his boyhood in the late 1960s, provides another example of sentimental nostalgia.
The unfolding of Kevin’s (Fred Savage) life as he comes of age, from his first kiss with the girl he has a crush on to his first job, is set against the background of actual historical events such as the Vietnam War.
A reimagining of the series with an African American family from Alabama is now in the works. Other great shows for family viewing are free Rein or walks of life. The entire series and especially the last episodes are a good watch for activist parents.
Boy Meets World
Cory Matthews, played by Ben Savage, is a sixth-grader in this comedy. Along with his brother and closest friend, Cory is attempting to make sense of the world around him.
As he matures, he even develops feelings for his fellow student Topanga (Danielle Fishel). It’s a nostalgic trip down memory lane that parents will enjoy, and it’s timelessly entertaining for children.

Little Big Shots
It’s a talent show for children, and it’s going to keep everyone in the house entertained. Particularly noteworthy are the interviews with the younger participants, which combine uplifting material with comedic moments that are appropriate for all ages.
The acts of talent are also unforgettable; yet, this is not a ruthless competition; rather, it is a presentation that highlights persons with little stature but enormous potential. Another honorable mention here is Black-ish featuring Dre Johnson.
The Middle
The Middle is a comedy that focuses on a family that belongs to the lower middle class in the Midwest. Frankie and Mike Heck were portrayed by Patricia Heaton and Neil Flynn, respectively. Their names are Axl (Charlie McDermott), Sue (Eden Sher), and Brick. They have three children (Atticus Shaffer).
The Heck family’s offbeat antics is the source of much of the humor in the show The Middle, which is otherwise a fairly conventional comedy. This is a program that is suitable for families with children of varying ages to watch together.
The Andy Griffith Show
This retro-styled comedy for the whole family has 249 episodes, of which 149 are shown in black and white. Andy Taylor, played by Andy Griffith, and his son Opie, played by Ron Howard, make their home in Mayberry, North Carolina, with Andy’s Aunt Bee, played by Frances Bavier. Andy is a widower.
The story of the program revolves around the local community and all of its eccentric residents, notably Andy’s inept cousin, Deputy Barney Fife (Don Knotts). Honorable mentions include Little People or series from actors like Tia Mowry and Amy Fleming which offer a new perspective. These actresses are great for a teen daughter as most of the series is based on a set of novels. Even young kids can enjoy them.
The Bernie Mac Show
From his standup routine in The Original Kings of Comedy to his appearances on television, Bernie Mac talked about taking in his little sister’s children when she checked into a rehabilitation facility.
In this episode, Mac and his wife Wanda (played by Kellita Smith) dealt with the challenges of becoming parents while also caring for his sister’s three children: Jordan, Vanessa, and Bryana.
The characteristic feature of the weekly comedy was the breaking down of the fourth wall, in which Bernie would chat to “America” about what he was actually thinking during various points of the program. A great show for the family business and even for younger viewers.
